Jessica Carma Winward is a classically trained actress and experienced teaching artist. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Theatre from Southern Utah University. During college, she taught young children Shakespeare with the prominent Utah Shakespeare Festival's education program. She also performed multiple seasons with the Neil Simon Festival. She was the recipient of many awards and accolades including numerous Irene Ryan Nominations from the American College Theatre Festival and the very competitive Robin Lynn Bishop Scholarship.
Upon graduating she accepted an international two-year touring contract with Missoula Children's Theatre. She toured to 37 states and 5 countries performing, teaching, and directing just under 100 casts of various musicals. She has been asked to continually train new hires. Last winter she was invited to go to Singapore Christmas 2015 for an international holiday tour.
Since her move to the LA area, she has been working non-stop. She graduated from iO West's esteemed improv program. Finding a passion for directing and teaching she focused on that. She has been working with LA County of Public works on the Environmental Defenders program. She has performed at just over 500 schools in LA County. She is working with A Noise Within and Theatre 360 and Pasadena Jr. Theatre teaching and directing regularly. She also teaches with SODE performing arts and Zip Zap Zop.
She is working with the theatre titan Center Theatre Group with the Disney Musicals in Schools Program. She is also part of their Front and Center program: a school partnership with CTG and Culver City High School doing multiple Shakespeare residencies.
Jessica is currently teaching at Center Theatre Group, The Geffen Playhouse, A Noise Within, Zip Zap Zop, and SODE. She has recently become the program assistant for Dream A World Education. And has gone back to school to get her teaching credential.
